Kitchen Tip: Frozen Cookie Dough Balls

Posted on February 24, 2013
Hi, Everyone! Maybe this baking tip isn’t new to you, but I only discovered this little trick recently and wanted to share it here with you! Do you ever crave a warm, homemade cookie but don’t want to bake a whole big batch (because if you are like me, you will want to eat them all)? Here’s what you can do – Frozen Cookie Dough Balls! Make your cookie dough, form it into balls like you would if you were going to bake the cookies, then place all the cookie dough balls on either a large tray or plate, and place them in the freezer for a couple of minutes, until they are frozen. Then just pop them in a large ziplock bag (I arrange mine on a plastic plate and place that inside the ziplock bag) and keep them frozen until you are ready to bake! This way, whenever you want a cookie or two, all you need to do is take a couple pieces out of the freezer, let them thaw for just a couple of minutes and then bake them and have freshly made cookies in just a couple of minutes!

Happy Baking, Everyone!

I do this too! Only, I don’t take the time to roll them into balls, I just make my cookie dough, bake two cookie sheets worth of cookies and put the rest of the dough in a tupperware container. Then when I want some cookies, I just use an ice cream scooper to scoop it out, and I’ve always baked it frozen. They turn out great! I’ve frozen many cookie recipes! My family’s favorite is a breakfast cookie that I can scoop 2 per kid out, and have them baking while I get them up and dressed and they can eat them on the way to Grandma’s house! So convenient!

That’s a great way to do it too! Although I’m finding that it’s quite dangerous having all this cookie dough ready to go in the freezer! Thanks for stopping by, have a great week!
